What is Group Business Coaching?
In this model, a coach works with a group of business owners simultaneously. Sessions can be structured around common themes or allow for individual hot seats and group discussion.
Focus: Addresses common challenges and opportunities relevant to a group of businesses, often within a similar industry or stage of growth.
Interaction: Interaction with the coach and peer-to-peer learning and support from other business owners in the group.
Depth: Can explore topics in depth, but the time dedicated to individual business issues is limited compared to 1-on-1 coaching.
Accountability: Can have elements of peer accountability in addition to accountability to the coach.
Cost: Generally more cost-effective than 1-on-1 coaching as the coach's time is shared among multiple participants.
Pace: The pace is set for the group, which may be faster or slower than an individual's ideal pace.
Networking: Excellent opportunities for networking, sharing experiences, and gaining different perspectives from peers.
Scheduling: Typically involves regularly scheduled group sessions.
Group Business Coaching - Coachee Involvement
Involvement in group coaching is shared among participants and requires a balance between focusing on one's own business and contributing to the learning of others.
Moderate Preparation: Coachees should prepare to share their own business's situation, challenges, and progress when it's their turn (e.g., during hot seats). They should also be familiar with the general topic being discussed. Preparation is generally less intense on an individual basis compared to 1-on-1, unless presenting.
Active Participation & Contribution: Coachees need to be actively present and engaged during group sessions. This includes participating in discussions, asking questions, sharing their own experiences and insights, and providing feedback to peers when appropriate.
Consistent Implementation: Coachees are expected to implement the action items they identify for their own business based on the group's discussions and the coach's guidance. While there might be peer accountability, the direct follow-up on individual actions from the coach may be less intensive than in 1-on-1.
Respect for Group Dynamics: Coachees need to be mindful of sharing time and allow others to participate. Building a supportive and confidential environment within the group is part of their involvement.
Investment of Time: Time is needed for attending the group sessions and for implementing individual action items. Preparation time is generally less per session than 1-on-1.
Understanding these differences in Business Coaching options at the ESC in required involvement can help you choose the coaching format – 1-on-1 Personalized Private Coaching, Group Coaching, or Flash Coaching - that best aligns with your availability, learning preferences, and the intensity of the support that you need.
Each of these coaching styles offers different benefits and drawbacks, and the best choice depends on your specific needs, budget, learning style, and the nature of the challenges you are facing. We also offer Coaching Packages built around continuous education, networking, coaching, and all of the different forms, templates, and resources you need: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond packages.
These packages are bundled to create greater effectiveness and cost savings depending on the size of your organization, your needs, and the speed in which changes need to be made.
